Selmer Concept Alto Sax Mouthpiece is a Winner

I have been playing on the same Selmer Soloist C** alto sax mouthpiece for about 40 years. I recently decided to try something new and after about a week of research I decided to try the Selmer Concept. I placed the order with ProWinds on Tuesday around noon and it was delivered on Friday around noon. Thanks for the quick delivery ProWinds! The mouthpiece comes in a nice velvet (or velveteen) pouch and one Selmer mouthpiece cushion. I've never used a mouthpiece cushion before but I decided to use this one since I did not want to scratch the mouthpiece in case I didn't like it and wanted to return it. The table of the Concept is longer than the one on my Soloist, but the weights seem to be similar. Once I put the mouthpiece on and started playing I immediately noticed that the low notes (C#, C, B, and Bflat) were much easier to play than on my Soloist mouthpiece. The sound of the Concept is similar to the Soloist, but a little different. The tone is very centered, focused, and sweet-sounding. I think the Concept won't play as loudly as the Soloist, but I am very pleased with it and can't wait to keep playing it and exploring it's tonal nuances.
