FE Olds

FE Olds

Based in Los Angeles, California, F.E. Olds was founded by trombonist Frank Ellsworth Olds in 1908, in a small workshop behind his house and specialized in manufacturing trombones until he was joined by his son, R.B. Olds, and expanded their range of band instruments. F.E. Olds initially wanted to improve the trombone's slide and bell, which would vastly improve its flexibility and response for better richness in sound and tonal quality. The F.E. Olds brand famously pioneered free bracing (which was widely copied in Europe and America) slide tubing, two-piece patented brace, using nickel silver tubing for slides, and professional-type valve springing on student trumpets and cornets. Since the 1970s, the company has been mass-producing student instruments, along with its professional-level models. Products offered include brass instruments such as trumpets, trombones, French horns, and euphoniums; string instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and bass; and wind instruments such as flutes, piccolos, clarinets, and saxophones.

Each Olds instrument is meticulously subjected to strict quality control, tested and inspected to ensure its response. The F.E. Olds craftsmanship, research and development, and exceptional quality, have attributed to its success, a brand preferred by many musicians around the world.
