Heavier than the regular aluminium version this mute produces a more brilliant sound. Very useful for its wonderful projection in the symphony orchestra, it produces a harder-edged sound in fortissimos than the regular aluminium mute. Also great for pit playing (both in operas and musicals) and in big bands if a strident muted sound is needed. It has all the all-round versatility of the DW5504 but with extra punch.
