The JP191 MKII has been described as "the perfect student bassoon" and is an excellent choice for younger players or those with smaller hands due to its unique 'shortreach' mechanism. Designed especially with the aim of ensuring a smooth learning experience for players of all ages, the JP191 MKII builds on the ethos of JP to encourage the use of rarer instruments. With an impressive intonation and quality of tone, the JP191 MKII performs far better than many others in the same price bracket. As recommended by Lyndon Hilling (Bassoon Specialist & Head of Woodwind, Northamptonshire Music Service), the JP191 MKII features "an open hole at the top making them an ideal stepping stone for moving on to a full-sized instrument later".
The JP191 MKII is a reliable and durable student bassoon and features a strong silver plated keywork mechanism increasing the instrument's longevity and reducing the need for regular services. Constructed from a maple body and finished in a clear lacquer, the instrument has a rich and warm sound. To increase playing comfort and ease of progress, an adjustable playing spike and balancing arm is included as standard.
The JP191 MKII is supplied with a choice of two crooks and comes supplied with a reed to get students started. A lightweight case is also included and features backpack and shoulder straps. High specification components are used throughout including robust YKK zips and two sturdy carry handles. A small internal storage compartment provides the opportunity to store small accessories and cleaning equipment.
All JP Instruments are covered by a comprehensive 2 year warranty against manufacturing defects.
